7' Tuna Spinner
Seeker Hercules GTS70H untrimmed, with SiC guides, aluminum reel seat and gimbal. Paired with Shimano Saragosa and 80#PowerPro hollow core. It was built for sight casting small bluefin, but has made an excellent jigging rod and has one 8' blue shark to its credit. It took two seasons to complete. Upon my second season, I returned to find that one of our cats ate two spools of metallic thread that could no longer be replaced after Gudebrod went out of business. I improvised with blue, and never forgave the cat...
8'6" Surf Rod
This two piece 8'6" Lamiglass (GSB 102 2 L) was the first surf rod I built. It was specifically built for fishing Maine stripers and throws 1/2-1 1/2oz lures all day long. It has stubby EVA grips followed by a black heat shrink covered cork tape butt. Paired with a Shimano Sustain 6000 and 14lb (yes 14) Berkley Fire Line, it is perfect for lobbing mackerel and eels and has enough line to stop linesiders and bluefish. It is definitely on the light side for +40" fish, but I like to think of it as sporting. I went a little retro and did not use any metallic colors. A little handsome, a little clunky, and very fishy, I decided to name it Travotla.

My wife's uncle is a die hard Pittsburg fan. He officiated our wedding and my wife and I built this rod for him as a personalized and special 'thank you.'

This rod was a 2015 Christmas present for my wife. It's a 7'6" ML action Mudhole MagTaper Bass blank intended for kayak fishing skinny water in Florida. This was the first rod I build for her and she said 'It's about time!'

Perhaps the lightest and best balanced rods I've made, I wanted to keep it for myself. I put a mermaid on the to ensure that I didn't get any wise ideas.

truth be told....I still fish it when she's not around! : )

If you made it this far...ask me why this photo is here if you want a funny story.
