Laser-Assisted Video Tray:

This was a reverse engineering project of a one-of-a-kind video system that employed lasers with converging beams to gauge camera distance from the bottom. The video system was used to film parallel to fragile reef ecosystems and increased sampling effort by increasing spatial area restricted by SCUBA bottom times.

Creation of a second camera doubled the field efforts of a multi-year, cornerstone project for the State of Florida known as the Southeast Coral Reef Evaluation and Monitoring Project (SECREMP).

I also used this system for my thesis to study the accuracy and precision of coral coverage data obtained by in situ measurements and image analysis.
