Pond and Patio

I spent the summer of 2000 building custom fences and decks which inspired me to built this pond and patio for my mom. Three generations of my family enjoyed my creation for over 12 years.

The deck was a floating patio design cantilevered on all sides.  The deck surface was made of stone pavers floated on recessed supports.  It felt like a patio but without having to those annoying weeds growing between the cracks.  The steps were made from decorative retaining wall blocks.  The desk's skirt and treads were outfitted with courtesy rope lights and gave a gentle glow at night.

The garden arbor was made from reclaimed patio lumber scraps and some trellis.

The pond had three cascading tiers decorated with flag stone salvaged from the outskirts of an old quarry town. The pump was concealed in the pool and the entire pond was plumbed with readily available garden hose fittings.

Save for a few pieces of rotten hose, the system required very little maintenance for over a decade.
